Aaron graduated from FAU with Bachelor of Science in Biological Sciences. He has worked with different species of monkeys since high school such as owl monkeys, Lesula monkeys and began working with vervets last year during the pandemic. During his time here he conducted daily counts, behavioral data collection, setting up camera traps and uploading data, and assisted in uploading social media content. Aaron now is a research assistant for the Inkawu Vervet Project in South Africa. He plans on continuing to work with primates and is applying for graduate school.

Aubrey Frederick is a graduate student currently attending Florida Atlantic University and planning to receive their Master’s degree in Biological Anthropology, specializing in Primatology. She has been working alongside Dr. Williams and is conducting her thesis on the monkey populations in Dania Beach to observe their seasonal births.

My name is Carly Miles and I am a graduate student at Florida Atlantic University studying biological anthropology. I am from Lakeland, Florida where I completed my undergraduate degree in environmental studies at Florida Southern College in 2019. My undergraduate research focused on the subcaudal scent marking patterns of nocturnal owl monkeys (Aotus nancymaae). My master’s thesis will focus on the bioacoustics of the introduced population of vervet monkeys (Chlorocebus sabaeus) located in Dania Beach, Florida.

Sydney Krusch is a high school student attending Pine Crest School and is a part of their research program. She has started the Dania Beach Vervet project in the fall of 2021 and is planning to do research using camera traps in order to tell how often the monkeys make use of the urban parking lot space.

Charlene is originally from France, where she graduated with a bachelor’s degree in Cell Biology and Physiology in 2014. She moved to the United States 10 years ago for new life opportunities. She went back to college to graduate with a bachelor’s degree in psychology in 2017 followed by a master’s degree in Biological Sciences in 2020 from FAU. Her thesis focused on using camera trap videos to study the behavioral ecology of a recently discovered monkey species in Africa, Cercopithecus lomamiensis. Charlene is starting her Ph.D. dissertation research with the Dania Beach Vervet Project after completing 2 field seasons in Africa (Tanzania and the Democratic Republic of the Congo).
